On April 9, 2025, Healing Health Total (2HT), led by Padma Shri Dr. Ravi Kannan, launched its flagship “Cancer-Free Initiative” in Rampalli, Patnagarh od Bolangir district, Odisha. The inauguration, officiated by Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Odisha and Smt. Sangita Singh Deo, Hon’ble Member of Parliament marks a transformative leap for rural healthcare.This initiative represents a transformative leap for rural healthcare. Equipped with advanced ECG, ECHO, mammography, and vital monitoring tools, the Arogya Rath brings life-saving doorstep care to the most remote areas of Western Odisha. By integrating these modern diagnostics with the spirit of Seva, we are bridging the healthcare divide and ensuring that geography no longer determines a patient’s survival. Community engagement at the grassroots remains central to effective public health delivery. On 12 March 2026, the team conducted a field interaction with Panchayati Raj Institution representatives at 1075 Burman LP School, Bhubandar Tea Estate, Cachar district, Assam as part of a training session, in collaboration with Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCRC). The session focused on strengthening awareness around early detection and encouraging participation in structured screening initiatives within the community. As part of the activity, Community Based Assessment Checklist (CBAC) forms were completed to identify individuals at potential risk, enabling systematic follow up and referral. Additionally, 10 HPV samples were collected, contributing to early screening efforts for cervical cancer.Such initiatives play a crucial role in improving health seeking behaviour, facilitating early diagnosis, and strengthening the linkage between community level interventions and clinical care pathways. Meeting with Odisha Deputy Chief Minister On 17 April 2025, the 2HT team met with Shri K. V. Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, led by the noted oncologist Padmashree Dr. Ravi Kannan, for an insightful discussion on strengthening cancer prevention through early detection in the state.The meeting focused on the implementation of screening-based early cancer detection program, on a pilot mode in selected blocks of Bolangir and Keonjhar districts, in Odisha.This interaction marked an important step in shaping the initial vision and foundation of 2HT’s work in the state, reinforcing a shared commitment towards advancing community healthcare. Journey with Cachar Cancer Care and Research Centre The journey with Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC), under the leadership with Dr. Ravi Kannan, started in the summer of May 2024, with a visit to Silchar. We got a chance to visit the field, with the Cachar team, and had a first-hand experience, of the wonderful work, that they do at the community level. We were also lucky to see first-hand an early case of cancer, treated with thermal ablators, at the community health centre level. What followed was further visits, discussions with Dr. Kannan and a series of meetings at the highest level of the government machinery in Odisha, starting with the Hon’ble Deputy CM and the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health and Family Welfare (HFW), Govt., of Odisha, in April 2025, following which we had further meetings with the Hon’ble CM, Odisha and the Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Development Commissioner, Govt. of Odisha, in August 2025. This led to further discussions and presentations to the National Health Mission (NHM) Govt., of Odisha and the Director Public Health (DPH), in the months of September and November 2025. Finally we had a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Govt., of Odisha, in December 2025, and a field visit to the selected districts of Keonjhar and Bolangir, ending with a debrief meeting with the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health and Family Welfare (HFW). The implementation plan and strategy has been designed and chiseled, as a result of these discussions, at multiple levels, spread over the last two years. Support the Mission

Strengthening Community-Based Early Cancer Detection in Jhampura Block The 2HT initiative was rolled out in Jhampura Block, Keonjhar, with trained healthcare workers upskilled in Silchar, Assam, supported by dedicated volunteers working closely with ASHAs and CHOs to strengthen early cancer detection at the community level. The programme on Strengthening of CBAC for Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer was successfully conducted on 18 April 2026 at Jhumupura CHC Meeting Hall, Keonjhar, marking a significant step towards building a stronger grassroots cancer screening and care system.
